STRENGTHENING UNITY THROUGH SCOUTING

The Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, has been formally appointed as the Ambassador of the Kenya Scouts Movement, marking a renewed partnership between the government and the Scouting fraternity in promoting civic responsibility, peacebuilding, and national values.

Speaking during the investiture ceremony, Dr. Omollo underscored the shared values of service, discipline, patriotism, and community engagement that define both the Ministry of Interior and the Kenya Scouts Association (KSA). He noted that the Scouts’ guiding principles, duty to God, duty to others, and duty to self, reflect the same ideals that steer government efforts to build a safe, cohesive, and value-driven society.

As part of the collaboration, Scout Peace Ambassadors will work closely with National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) to advance civic education, conflict resolution, and community empowerment initiatives across the country.

“We will also work together on peace and civic education. The Scouts peace ambassadors and our local administration can promote harmony within communities because the Scout character in training can be integrated in civic education programs that is led by our chiefs and assistant chiefs.”

Dr. Omollo highlighted that the Scouts’ vast grassroots network offers a powerful platform for instilling national values, nurturing integrity, and fostering patriotism among the youth. He commended the organization’s enduring contributions to leadership training, environmental stewardship, and volunteerism, which align with the government’s broader agenda of national security and youth empowerment.

He further expressed confidence that the strengthened partnership will help cultivate community structures that promote security, social order and unity nationwide. The collaboration reflects the government’s broader strategy of leveraging youth organisations to accelerate national programmes on transformation.
